- Home The Gift
By: Sharon Flynn

Why have I given you the Moon?
Because you are the Moon to me,
Much brighter than its night glow.
It is your face that I see
When all the stars are in place.
It is the glow of your love
That illumines my deepening dusk.
If I had a thousand moons,
I would give them all as a ransom
To acquire your touch, your arms.
But, tonight, the Moon is yours
Lassoed and brought down from the sky.
Embellished with a ribbon of moonbeams
To be presented to you as a cherished gift.
Be mine forever. Let your light shine
Upon my life for endless nights.
That is why I have given you the Moon.
It cannot compare to the gift of you.
